[Fall Semester 2018] IGS200-01 Introduction to IGS

The course is supposed to be aware of and learn the foundation of International/Global studies and it covers politics, economics, culture, environment& health, and peace& wars. What is interesting in the course is that students ware assigned Home country and research each home country. It is like the United Nations. I was assigned in charge of Senegal. I was not familiar with the country; however, through these activities, I have better understanding of Senegal, also other African countries which are in similar situation with Senegal in terms of politics, economic growth, and cultures. And it also works to make students aware of being the representative of the country not only Home country assigned in class but also actual home country. It was so interesting class experience.

[Spring Semester 2019] SPA101-09 Beginning Spanish 1

Taking Spanish course here in English makes me have two language barriers; however, it also lets me understand even one word from three different values, which is really interesting experience for me.

Comparing the differences among these languages allows me to realize the difference of value of each country. Such differences come from the value and background and it sometimes requires us to understand nuance and subtle meaning behide the word.

Also, language has been changing with time passing, and it has reflected the value of the natives because language generates from people.Hence, I realized that what is most significant in language study is just recognizing the differences,accepting and enjoying them.
